Baking with my mom is one of my fondest memories. She’d always find some treat for us to make, probably once a week. Sometimes it was just box mix brownies, but many times it was cookies from scratch. They’re really not difficult to make, and they taste great.
Valentine’s M&M Cookies Recipe
There are a couple things you’ll probably want to make these cookies. One is a cookie scoop. This helps make your cookies an even size, and they bake more evenly. Second is parchment paper. This helps prevent sticking and burning. These precut parchment sheets are totally worth the investment. A good Vanilla extract also makes a world of difference in your baking. Of course, you can always make your own vanilla extract, too.
Ingredients
- 1 stick unsalted butter, softened

Baking Tips
Room Temperature Ingredients
Ensuring that your egg is at room temperature helps in achieving a smoother cookie dough.
Perfectly Sized Cookies
Use a cookie scoop to get uniform-sized cookie balls for even baking.
Get Creative
Feel free to experiment with different M&M colors or even mix in some festive sprinkles for an extra touch of charm.
You could also try different mix-ins like chopped nuts, white chocolate chips, or toffee bits for added texture and flavor
Don’t Overbake
Keep an eye on the cookies while baking. They are ready when the edges turn a light golden color, ensuring a soft and chewy center.
Chill the Dough
For thicker and chewier cookies, consider chilling the cookie dough in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before baking.
Dietary Considerations
If you or your loved ones have dietary restrictions, you can explore alternative ingredients such as gluten-free flour or dairy-free chocolate chips.
Valentine’s Day Presentation
Arrange the cookies on a heart-shaped plate or serve them in heart-themed cupcake liners to add a festive touch to your presentation.
Gift-Wrapping Ideas
If you’re planning to gift these cookies, consider placing them in a decorative tin or a mason jar. Attach a cute Valentine’s Day tag with a sweet message for a personalized touch.
Double the Recipe for Sharing
If you’re hosting a Valentine’s Day gathering or sharing with a larger group, consider doubling the recipe to ensure there are plenty of these delectable treats to go around.
Get the Kids Involved
If you have little ones, involve them in the baking process. Let them help with rolling the cookie balls or placing the M&M’s on top. It’s a fun and bonding activity for the whole family.
