Summer is almost here, and it’s time to start thinking about spending time and entertaining in the backyard again. Hopefully, this year, we can at least have a few friends over for a small gathering.
Maybe your backyard has become a little dull and could use some sprucing up. Here are some ideas that will motivate you to refresh your backyard space.
Patio Furniture
Getting new patio furniture is one of the best ways to spruce up your backyard. Whether you’re entertaining guests or just relaxing after work, outdoor furniture will refresh your backyard space.
I have been looking for new patio furniture for what feels like forever. There’s a myriad of options out there, at all price points. You can find all-weather outdoor furniture like wicker chair sets, chaise lounges, wood armchairs, ottomans, tables, garden benches, and loveseats, and so much more. You don’t want to forget the outdoor accessories, either. These are things like pillows, rugs, cushions, and other knickknacks that really add a lot of color and personality.
An outdoor kitchen
Summer means getting outside and barbecuing for family and friends. Updating your BBQ and grilling accessories is sure to bring a smile to everyone in the family. You don’t have to go full blown outdoor kitchen, but updating your BBQ or adding a smoker is a great addition. You can choose from smaller charcoal barbecues to large propane gas barbeques with side burners, and just about everything in between.
Plant a Garden
Gardens add color and beauty to your backyard, and raised garden beds will stand out beautifully in the yard. Vegetable gardens are a perfect addition to any yard as they are both useful and pretty. You can walk a few steps to your garden and pick whatever vegetables you would like to go with dinner.
Flowers can be planted in a garden, as a border, and under trees. You can also plant edible flowers in pots and containers around the yard. Having freshly picked flowers in your home and on the patio will brighten your mood and your backyard space.
Adding Lights
One of the best, and easiest, ways to refresh your backyard space is by adding some lighting. There are many types of lights you can choose from to brighten up your backyard. If you have a path around your backyard, adding path lights will emphasize the beauty of the path while lighting the way.
String lighting over the patio or through the trees will give your patio and yard a festive look. Adding lights in your flower gardens will highlight individual plants. For larger lights in the yard, a landscape lighting specialist can be of help. Solar lights work best for path and garden lighting.
Maintain the Lawn
Since the lawn is usually the largest part of your backyard, having a lush green lawn goes a long way towards refreshing your backyard. Mowing with dull blades will give even the greenest lawn a dull look. If you can see footprints in the lawn after walking on it, it needs watering. Proper mowing, watering, weeding, and fertilizing will ensure you have a gorgeous lawn.
If you dislike maintaining the lawn, there are new synthetic lawns you can have installed. They look and feel like real grass and will last for years.
During the hot summer, you might spend more time outside than in your home. Taking the time to refresh your backyard space will be well worth it when summer gets here.
