It’s that time of year again where we start revisiting our holiday traditions. We pore through our family traditions, and new traditions we hear about in other places. Perhaps we’ll try a couple of those, see how they do. If these are a hit, they’ll become our new family traditions.
Our family has a few holiday traditions. Although, as we’ve gotten older, and there are fewer and fewer young kids, they’ve taken a shift. One of our favorite traditions, though, has always been baking great treats.
An easy to make treat that’s always super impressive is a quick bread. They’re tasty, practically fail proof, and did I mention tasty? Oh yeah, and quick! That’s especially important during the busy holiday season. You can make pretty much any flavor, but I’ve chosen to go with a Pumpkin Swirl Loaf Cake.
Now, I have a confession – I used a box mix and doctored it up with McCormick® spices and extracts. Shhh…no one will ever know you didn’t make this Pumpkin Swirl Loaf Cake from scratch. Even better, I was able to get everything I needed with a quick trip to Walmart.
First, I headed to the spice aisle at Walmart to see what McCormick® seasonings they had. There’s a ton of variety, and pretty much all the spices I’d need for my holiday baking and cooking were right in one place. I chose a few that would bump up my boxed mix, and give it more of a homemade taste. McCormick® Pumpkin spice, cloves, and vanilla extract were the winners. I picked up my cake mixes, and headed to the check stand to pay. Easy peasy.
When I got home, I knew that I could whip up my Pumpkin Swirl Loaf Cake in practically no time.
