Special thanks to Hallmark for sponsoring this Holiday Traditions post.
The holidays are all about family traditions. Reviving the old ones, and creating new traditions. One of my family’s most fun traditions is wrapping gifts. My grandmother really liked to go all out when wrapping your gifts. She would look high and low for really fun wrapping paper and the unconventional accessories that went with the gift wrap.
Usually, one weekday before Christmas, she would take me shopping so I could pick up the Christmas gifts I wanted to give. We’d then head back to her house and wrap everything up. I’d pick out the papers and the various trimmings, and she’d do the dirty work while I ate cookies.
Fast forward 25 years, and I still love wrapping paper and fancy decorations. And cookies, but that’s a different story. I like to pick out really great papers that are different than what you normally find in a store. That’s one of the reasons that I love Hallmark. They have a collection of gift wrap that is just right for everyone on your list.
I found all kinds of really great retro papers, and even one that was like Retro subway word art on one side and a chalkboard-esque solid on the other. How cool is that? Add in Hallmark’s great selection of trimmings like pompoms, wide plaid ribbon, paper grosgrain ribbon, and even burlap, you can really make your gifts as special on the outside as they are on the inside.
