Getting Experimental with Devo Olive Oil

devo9pcsamplerbottleswm 550 x 413 Getting Experimental with Devo Olive Oil

One of the things that just about any chef worth their salt has in their cabinet is good quality Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO) and a quality balsamic vinegar.

Devo Olive Oil takes their selections beyond the basics.  With more than 20 flavors each of EVOO and Balsamic Vinegars, there’s bound to be something for everyone.  Because of the daunting selection available, Devo does a lot of different things.  They have an extensive selection of already matched oils and vinegars.  One such pairing is their “Peachy Keen” which is Georgia Peach White Balsamic and Organic Persian Lime EVOO.

One of the other things that Devo Olive Oil does so well is that they create samplers of their oils and vinegars.  For the price of a full sized bottle or two, you can sample 4, 6, or  9 different flavors.  They even have a huge 16 piece sampler pack!

Terrapin Ridge Farms – Gourmet Food Done Right

sweetbeetmustard 525 x 395 Terrapin Ridge Farms Gourmet Food Done Right

I really love getting food packages in the mail.  No, that’s a lie; I love getting any packages in the mail!

But I do like getting food in the mail. And we’ve all gotten those mass-produced, more box than treats holiday extravaganza of mediocre food that the mailman brings.  Terrapin Ridge Farms, my friend, is not about mediocrity.

I L-i-i-i-i-k-e Candy – Enstroms Toffee Review

enstrom toffee (277 x 350) I L i i i i k e Candy Enstroms Toffee Review

I love candy and sweets.  If they ever decided to outlaw sugar, I would be in serious trouble.  I would totally become one of those people, hanging out in the sugar den, looking for my fix.  I’m not indiscriminate in my love of sugar though.  I like really good baked goods and quality candies.

When I received a box from Enstrom’s Candies this week, I suspected I was in for quite a treat. And I was sooo right!  It took every ounce of my self control not to rip into the box in the car.  Somehow, I managed to control myself until I was able to get home.  That was like an hour, so you know how difficult that had to be!

Endangered Species Chocolate

Mmmm…Chocolate.   Personally, I prefer dark chocolate.  I like the snappier texture.  I also like that dark chocolate is generally not as sweet.   It’s not like I’m going to pass up lighter, sweeter, milk chocolate, either.

What’s better than Chocolate?  Maybe chocolate that gives back?  I recently received an assortment of chocolate bars from Endangered Species.  Their treats are gluten free and Kosher.  The dark chocolate is vegan, as well.

First up was Dark Chocolate with Forest Mint.   I found this one to be okay.  The dark chocolate was alright, the mint flavor wasn’t really there.  At 72% Cacao, this is a strong dark chocolate flavor.

Next up was Natural Milk Chocolate.  It was creamy, smooth, and sweet.

Last, but not least, was my favorite of the group.  Dark Chocolate with Cranberries and Almonds.  It was the same dark chocolate of the mint bar, but with small pieces of cranberries and almonds embedded in it.

Endangered Species Chocolate gives back, too.  They donate 10% of their net profits to conservation programs. All of their ingredients are sourced from ethically traded cacao farms ensuring fair trade, responsible labor practices and sustainable farming.  Pretty cool, eh?

Now if you'll excuse me, I've got some chocolate calling my name.

Yummy Earth Eco Friendly Candy

I recently had the opportunity to try out a couple of new taste treats from Yummy Earth Organics.   Sour Worms and Sour Jellybeans.

First up was the Sour Jellybeans.  I was a little concerned when they said sour.  I popped a couple in my mouth .  I was pleasantly surprised to see that they were tart, but not especially sour.  More like tart fruit.  I can dig it!  These were intensely flavorful, like high end jellybeans.

I waited a couple days, then ripped open the Sour Worms.  I was really leery of these, as they had the citric acid crystals on them, like other kinds of sour candy.  They also didn’t feel very soft in the package.  Hmmm…these are gonna be kind of intense.  When I pulled them out, I was pleasantly surprised to find out the Sour Worms were really soft and fresh.  I ate one.  And then another.  A few more.  And one or two more.  These had an intense fruit flavor and weren’t sour at all.

Make It a Meal with Bertolli Meal Soups #BertolliMealSoup

Bertolli has just launched a new line of frozen soups called Bertolli Meal Soups.  As a busy person, I’ve always liked the frozen meals, and Bertolli’s were my favorite.  So you can imagine my excitement that they had new choices for me to make!  Ooh la la!  The best part is that these only take a few minutes to make

Before I went to the store to pick these up, I checked online to make sure that there was a vegetarian option.  On the Bertolli website, there was no mention of meat in the tortellini soup.  Perfect! – or so I thought.  When I got to the store, I saw that the package said Tortellini…with chicken. Hmmm…
