I recently had the pleasure of traveling to the great state of Louisiana. More on that trip is coming soon. Granted, I didn’t get to see much outside of New Orleans, there is SO MUCH MORE to the state than just NOLA, and I can’t wait to return. I think one of my next places to visit in LA is going to be Lake Charles.
These fabulous Louisiana inspired cocktails all came from the Ember Grille and Wine Bar at L’Auberge Casino and Resort. If cocktails aren’t your thing, they have over 200 wines that you can order by the bottle, and more than 20 that are served by the glass.

The Bayou Sidecar is a take on the classic Whiskey Sour cocktail. It features two different Bayou Rums from Louisiana Spirits Distillery in Lacassine, La., including their latest expression, Bayou Rum Select, which is aged for a minimum of two years. It’s a beautiful aged rum, perfect for sipping.

Bayou Sidecar Cocktail
A rum based cocktail that's well balanced, and perfect for sipping.
Ingredients
- 1 oz Bayou Select Rum
- 1 oz Bayou Satsuma Rum
- 1 oz fresh lemon juice
- ½ oz simple syrup
- Ice
- Sugar for the rim
Instructions
- Wet the rim of a glass and dip in sugar.
- Measure all ingredients into a shaker and add ice. Shake well
- Strain into a chilled cocktail glass with a sugar rim.

White Linen
A White Linen cocktail is the perfect drink for hot weather. Made from gin and elderflower liqueur, there’s a sweet and tart taste. The main ingredients als lend a decidedly herbal flavor to this refreshing drink. It’s perfect for a brunch, or sitting on the deck in the evening.
