We are huge road trippers in our family. Like, we are get in the car, take a map, and go kind of people. When we get to a fork in the road, we decide which path to take. In fact, I’m missing out on a road trip to Denver this weekend.
I realize that not everyone is like us. Traveling by automobile isn’t every family’s cup of tea. It doesn’t have to be miserable, though. The state of Pennsylvania has introduced this amazingly awesome thing called the Roadtrip-o-Matic. What it is is a bunch of pre-planned pa-roadtrips that take you through various parts of the state!
These road trips are geared towards all kinds of lifestyles, too. I have a friend that is a major beer snob. He visits breweries whenever he travels, attends beer tastings at pubs, and goes to beer festivals. Well, it just so happens that there is a road trip called “Hoppy Trails to You” that consists of various breweries in PA. That’s a perfect trip for him!
The planned out road trips don’t just tell you where to go either. They have the trips broken down into manageable days, with lots of sight-seeing. Because, let’s face it, no one wants to be trapped in the car for days on end! There’s also a list of noteworthy side trips. For the Hoppy Trails tour, it recommends the Martin Guitar Factory tour and the No 9 coal mine tour. Those are side trips that could be totally interesting and give you a break from beer. The No 9 Coal mine is the world’s oldest continuously operated anthracite coal mine.
The roadtrip-o-matic also gives suggestions for places to eat and where to stay. That’s nice, because sometimes you want something with some local charm, not just another night at Days Inn.
There are roadtrips designed for foodies, kids, art lovers, people who love to shop, Civil War buffs, nature lovers, and so many more. What kind of road trip would you take?

I'll have to share this awesome tool with friends who live in PA. Thanks for the heads up!
I wish all states did this! I love it. Thanks for sharing. If I am ever in Pennsylvania again, I am going to use this for sure!
